Dato’ Ir. Abdul Rashid bin Musa is a proficient professional engineer in Mechanical Engineering with a distinguished career spanning over three decades in the automotive and aerospace industries. A graduate of the University of Malaya, he began his journey in the automotive field in 1990, holding key positions at prominent organizations, including Proton, DRB-HICOM, and UMW. As the Chief Technical Officer at Proton, he played a pivotal role in developing and launching notable models such as the Suprima S, Iriz, and X70, contributing to the company’s global aspirations. His tenure as CEO of Proton Edar underscored his leadership in elevating Proton's brand and ensuring compliance with international safety standards. His innovative contributions have earned him recognition as a trailblazer in automotive and aerospace advancements.
Currently serving as the Group Chief Mobility & Innovation Officer at UMW Holdings Berhad, Dato’ Abdul Rashid oversees transformative initiatives in mobility and aerospace. Under his leadership, UMW Aerospace achieved milestones such as its maiden profit in 2019 and recognition as a high-performing supplier to Rolls-Royce. He has spearheaded initiatives to integrate green technologies and foster collaborations with academia and industry, aligning with Malaysia's National Aerospace Blueprint 2030. His strategic vision has driven UMW’s success in producing high-value innovations, enhancing the nation’s capabilities as an ASEAN aerospace hub while contributing to the local manufacturing sector’s transformation.
