Dato' Sri Idris Jala is a uniquely ambidextrous transformational leader who has experience in both the private and public sector. He held various top corporate jobs internationally as well as serving as a Minister in the Malaysian Government. His corporate turnaround successes (from financial losses to record profits) include various operating companies in Shell International as well as Malaysia Airlines. In Shell, he rose up the ranks to hold senior positions including Vice President, Shell Retail International and Vice President Business Development Consultancy, based in UK.
In 2014, in recognition of his national contribution as a Minister in the Malaysian government, Bloomberg rated Idris among the top 10 most influential policy makers in the world.
He is currently, Founder/President of Pemandu Associates, a consultancy firm specialised in corporate turnaround and national transformation. He is co-Chairman of Sunway Group, a publicly listed Malaysian conglomerate with 13 different businesses involving hospitals, malls, hotels, theme parks, university, construction, manufacturing and trading. He is also Chairman of Heineken Malaysia. In addition, Idris is Pro-Chancellor of Sunway University. Since 2014, Idris has been lecturing at the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Programme in Boston. In 2015, he was a visiting Practitioner at the Oxford University, Blavatnik School of Government. He was also the Founder and Executive Chairman of the Global Transformation Forum (GTF), the world's single platform for influential, global leaders to engage and share experiences and best practices on how to drive transformation./p>
HIn addition, he sits on the Board of Trustees for the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation focusing on education and MyKasih Foundation, focusing on poverty.
