Master of Business Administration (MBA), Cohort 2024 | Malaysia

From Engineering Roots to Broader Horizons

My professional journey began in engineering, a field that instilled in me discipline, structure, and a deep appreciation for how things work. But as my career progressed, it became clear that to contribute at a higher level, I needed to broaden my perspective beyond the technical domain. I wanted to understand not only how systems function, but how organisations grow, how people lead, and how decisions shape long-term direction.

The MBA at the University of Malaya became that turning point. It shifted my perspective from solving problems at the individual level to driving outcomes at the organisational level. It strengthened my understanding of strategy, leadership, and the dynamics that truly move businesses forward. That transformation from a technical mindset to a strategic one is the reason I stand today, not only as a graduate, but as a more complete leader.

Opportunity for Global Exposure at Singapore Management University (SMU)

A defining highlight of the programme was our study tour to Singapore Management University, where we explored Crisis Management in depth. It was an eye-opening experience. We learned how organisations respond when faced with uncertainty, disruption, and high-pressure decisions. We discussed the behaviours leaders must adopt in moments when clarity is scarce and stakes are high. And we saw how resilience is built not during calm periods, but in how we prepare for and respond to challenges. That experience reinforced a powerful belief.

Leadership is tested not when things go smoothly, but when the unexpected arrives. This lesson continues to influence how I approach challenges, lead teams, and contribute to the organisations I serve.
